Edna Myrle Strickland, age 88, of McKinney, Texas, passed away October 5, 2015. Edna was born May 22, 1927, in Gunter, Texas to U. Z. and Ola Bea (Savage) Harding. She grew up in Urbandale, a suburb of Dallas. Edna married Malcom Strickland and they later moved to McKinney. She was involved in the Wednesday Book Club in McKinney. Edna enjoyed attending the monthly Community Concert Association events. She had a special group of friends whom she met with every day at the Dairy Queen in McKinney. Edna was very active in her church, St. Peter’s Episcopal, having been a member since 1953 and serving several years on the Vestry and Altar Guild.
She is survived by her son, Kenneth Strickland and wife, Dianna of McKinney, Texas; grandchildren, Stephanie Buckley and fiancé, Don Marsh of San Antonio, Texas and Shannon Winburn and Bill Raitt of McKinney; great-grandchildren, Bryce Buckley, Grace Buckley, Morgan Winburn, Macey Winburn, and Makenzie Winburn; sisters, Wanda Wood of McKinney and Jennie Matthews of Mansfield, Texas; nieces, Teresa Horn and husband, Mickey, and Sharon Wood; nephew, Mark Parsons and wife, Sabrina and Richard Matthews; and many other loving nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brothers-in-law, Britton Wood and Wilbur Matthews.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, October 12, 2015, at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in McKinney, Texas. A reception will be held immediately following the service in the Parish Hall.
