Edith Marine Todd

Edith Marine Todd, age 91, of McKinney, Texas, went to her heavenly home on August 11, 2008, after a short illness. She was born March 21, 1917, in Westminster, Texas, the daughter of William and Mary (Medcalf) Fortner. On December 24, 1937 she married Laymon “Cotton” Todd in Westminster. To this union three children were born, James Robert, Judy Ann and Jimmie Dean. Mrs. Todd worked for F.W. Woolworth for eighteen years until her retirement. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Allen and was a member of The Order of The Eastern Star. She enjoyed gardening and loved working jigsaw puzzles and word search books. She is survived by her sons, James Robert and his wife Pauline and Jimmie and his wife Linda, both of Blue Ridge; daughter, Judy and her husband George Stratton of Allen; grandchildren, Robert Todd and his wife Charlotte, Danny Todd and his wife Lisa, Rhonda and her husband Joe Williams, all of Blue Ridge, Amy Mathis of Anna, Jeremy Todd of Blue Ridge, Chris Stratton and his wife Kelley of McKinney, Kara Cooke and her husband Steve of Murphy, and Corey Stratton of Allen; great-grandchildren, Matthew and his wife Laura of Farmersville, Jon-Daniel Todd of Dallas, Michael Todd, Heather Todd, Dustin Todd, Robert Dale Todd, Annie Williams and Braley Williams, all of Blue Ridge, Molly and Abigail Cooke of Murphy, Danielle Stratton of McKinney, Kenneth and Morgan Todd of Blue Ridge; and sister, Mildred Gaither of Melissa. Preceding her in death were her husband of fifty-six years, Laymon “Cotton” Todd; her parents; three brothers; and six sisters. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, August 14, 2008 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel with Rev. John Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home during a visitation on Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
