IN LOVING MEMORY

Edith Turner Taylor

Jul 12 1931 - Jul 18 2011

Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister-in-law, and teacher, Edith “Edie” Turner Taylor, passed away peacefully in Dallas, TX, July 18, 2011. Surrounded by family, she completed this earthly life and began one everlasting. Born July 12, 1931, to Thomas R. Turner and Edna Meek Turner, she grew up on an east Texas farm in Porter Springs, Texas, as the baby sister of three older brothers. Her early childhood was flavored by the Depression and the loss of a twin sister, Edna, eight months after they were born. Even though living in the heart of the Depression, the family’s life was rich in faith and music and dedication to each other. When Edith graduated from Crockett High School, she followed her elder brothers to Huntsville, Texas, to complete a degree in education at Sam Houston State University. It was there she met her husband and life partner, Roy Lee Taylor. They married on July 24, 1953, and by 1958 had moved to Wichita Falls where they lived until Roy's death November 3, 2010. During their years in Wichita Falls, Edith taught at Ben Milam Elementary School, and Roy taught aircraft systems at Sheppard AFB. They dedicated themselves to their three children, Lisa, Brian, and Bart. Edith led the “spiritual table” of the family and conducted her faith and ministry at First Baptist Church, Wichita Falls. In their retirement years, Edith and Roy enjoyed traveling in Europe. Edith may have lost her twin sister early in life, but God gave her many "sisters” including her sister-in-law, Shirley, and her "sisters in teaching” at Ben Milam. Those teaching sisters and other special friends were a joy throughout her life. Edith was preceded in death by her adoring husband, Roy, Lee Taylor, two brothers Thomas Ray Turner and Glyn Meek Turner. She is survived by her three children, Lisa Taylor McClarney of Dallas, Roy Brian Taylor of Allen and Lee Barton Taylor of Wichita Falls; a brother, James E. Turner of Dallas; a sister-in-law, Shirley Taylor O'Brien of Ponder; a son-in-law, Patrick McClarney of Dallas; and a daughter-in-law, Samantha Massey of McKinney. Edith also leaves behind her greatest joys of all, her grandchildren; Lisa’s son’s, the “twins” Ryan & Kyle Massey, and Brian’s two sons, Christopher Blake Taylor and Justin Brian Taylor; and last but certainly not least, one great-grandchild, Ryan’s son, Ethan Massey. Edith remained close to all of her five adoring nieces; Glynda, Jan, Peggy, Laura and Donna. Visitation will be Friday night, July 22, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Turrentine Jackson Morrow Funeral Home, Highway 75 (Central Expressway), Exit 38, Ridgeview Drive, McKinney, Texas 75070, ph: 972.562.2601, (http://www.turrentinejacksonmorrow.com/locations.php). A celebration of Edith’s life is set for Saturday morning, July 23, at 10:00 a.m. at the same location.
