Married to John Houston Lanier “Mr. Ed” on June 4,1938 who preceded her in death on Dec. 9, 1984 after 46 years of marriage. The now Edith Tyndall Lanier loved to ponder and yet she was organized to a fault. She truly loved her family, friends, pets, anything outdoors and Scrabble! She was an avid letter writer and right up to her death wrote many letters daily. A true sportswoman, she loved to hunt and fish and frequently spent full summers at Windy Point Campground in the Mendocino Nat’l Forest, camping, while Mr. Ed worked the week days in San Francisco where they resided for many years after their marriage and move from McKinney Texas. She worked in Texas Textile for 3 years, Mills, Mangus, Hollbrook & Elkins of SF for 3 years and Aetna Insurance Co in SF for 10 years. After retirement they moved to Oroville,CA and fished and gardened. One of her greatest joys was sharing the fruits of her labors from her yard. We’ll never forget her roasted almonds! Edith never learned to drive and relied heavily on her wonderful friends & neighbors for all of her transportation needs after her husbands’ passing. She aspired to reach 100 years of age so that she could get a letter from the President and eat Prime Rib. She was most proud of her great grandchildren and being a great great grandmother. She passed after an extended lung illness at the age of 96 years with family by her side. A big Thank You to the nurses at Oroville Hospital ECU. She was a member ofGrace Baptist Church.
