Edith Mozell Howerton

Edith Mozell Howerton, age 82, of Princeton, Texas, passed away January 11, 2014, in Princeton. Edith was born February 23, 1931, in Nevada, Texas, to John Richard and Mattie Pearl (Wood) Smith. She was a lifetime member of the VFW and the American Legion in McKinney. Edith was a member of First Baptist Church in Princeton.

She is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth Simmons of Princeton, Texas and Tracy Sons and husband, Chris of Trenton, Texas; sons, Jerry Lord and Roger Smith, both of Blue Ridge, Texas; seventeen grandchildren; thirty-seven great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her sons, John Albert Trent and Douglas Smith, four brothers, two sisters, and her love, W. A. Smith.

A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, January 14, 2014, at Wilson Chapel Cemetery in Lowry Crossing, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Monday evening at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.
