Earnestine Rogers

Earnestine Rogers of Plano, Texas, formerly of Henderson, Texas, passed away July 30, 2012 at the age of 78.  She was born June 13, 1934 in Freeport, Texas to Don Phillip and Atlas Lucille (Truelove) Barnes. On December 31, 1949, Earnestine married James Lowery Rogers in Freeport, Texas. She retired from Wal-Mart in Henderson, Texas, where she worked for a number of years; she was also a volunteer at Barron Elementary School in Plano. Earnestine was a member of Collin Creek Church in Plano, and a former member of East Side Baptist Church in Henderson, Texas where she was the church secretary.

She is survived by her children, Chris Rogers and wife Brenda of El Campo, Texas, James Rogers Jr. and wife Jennifer of Carthage, Texas, David Rogers of Virginia, Sue Austin and husband Kenneth of Plano, Texas, Kathy Reese and husband Steve of Joinerville, Texas; twelve grandchildren; twenty one great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild on the way; brother, James Roy Barnes of Grand Prairie, Texas; numerous nieces, nephews and other loving relatives.

Earnestine is preceded in death by her parents, Don and Atlas Barnes; husband, James Lowery Rogers; brothers, Don Atlas Barnes and Gerald Devore Barnes; and sister, Betty Barnes.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, August 2, 2012, at Collin Creek Church, 1905 E. Parker Road, Plano, Texas 75074. Interment will be at Waco Memorial Park in Waco, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation one hour prior to the service at the church.
