Earl Wayne Rutledge

Earl Wayne Rutledge, age 69, of Trenton, Texas, passed away August 7, 2012, in Denison, Texas. Wayne was born February 23, 1943, in McKinney, Texas, to Gwendall Wayne and Cora Izetta (Nickerson) Rutledge. He married Betty Jean Ball on October 29, 1983, in McKinney. Wayne was a manufacturing engineer at Fisher Controls for thirty-one years. After his retirement from Fisher, he owned and operated Wayne’s Machine Shop in McKinney and later,Trenton. He was member of Community North Baptist Church in McKinney where he served as a deacon.  Earl proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

He is survived by his wife, Betty J. Rutledge of Trenton, Texas; children, Suzanne Alexander and husband, Rick of Princeton, Texas, Jim Rutledge and wife, Tracy of Anna, Texas, Nikki Sheely and husband, Bob of Prosper, Texas, Jenni Lindsey and husband, Rick of Howe, Texas, and Jason Rutledge and wife, Karen of McKinney, Texas; foster son, Dwayne Morrison of Greenville, Texas; ten grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and sisters, Elkin Thrasher of Blue Ridge, Texas, and Judy Montgomery and husband, Kenneth of McKinney, Texas.

In addition to his devoted immediate family, Wayne’s life was enriched by many dear aunts and uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, a wonderful church family, and friends from Fisher Controls, his machine shop clients, the baseball players he coached, and his wife’s students, whom he helped more than anyone knew. He was highly cherished by his wife’s parents, brothers and sisters. He was particularly pleased to have had the opportunity to construct the bell tower at his church.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 11, 2012, at Community North Baptist Church in McKinney, Texas with Dr. Bruce Austin officiating. The family will receive friends during a remembrance gathering on Friday, August 10, 2012, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.

Memorial donations may be made to the building fund of Community North Baptist Church, 2500 Community Ave., McKinney, Texas, 75071.

Wayne and his family greatly appreciated the dedicated care and attention he received from Dr. Heffernan, Dr. Ehsan, and the staff at Texas Oncology of Sherman, and Dr. Wynn.
