Earl Ray Gibson

Mr. Earl Ray Gibson, age 73, of Garland, Texas passed away July 8, 2005 at Baylor Medical Center in Garland after a brief illness. He was born May 27, 1932, in Woodlawn Community, Collin County, Texas to Marvin Hill and Mary Elizabeth (Griffey) Gibson. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He retired from Ampco Metal Pittsburg Corporation in Garland. Prior to retirement, Earl was very active in local Garland politics and was instrumental in establishing the Garland Homeowners’ Association. After retiring, he became involved in many organizations including the Dallas and Mesquite Historical Societies, various genealogical organizations, and the Sam Johnson Chapter of the Korean War Veterans Association. He was a member of the Church of Christ. Earl is survived by his sons, David Hill Gibson of Garland, and Ronald Alan Gibson and wife Rita (Hoffman) Gibson of Phoenix, Arizona; Grandchildren, Cody Ray Gibson and Misty Dawn Gibson of Frisco; brothers, Marvin Alton Gibson of Midland, Armon Davis Gibson and Erwin Harve Gibson, both of McKinney; sisters, Dorothy Ann Golden, Greenville, North Carolina, and Evelyn Elizabeth Valek of Cisco, Texas, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Dona Doris (Sims) Gibson in August 1996; son Charles Ray Gibson; and brother, Samuel Clifton Gibson. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, July 12, 2005 at Buckingham Road Church of Christ in Garland. Interment will follow at Restland Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Monday, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen.
