Dwayne Charles Perry

Dwayne Charles Perry was the first of four children born to Roy and Lena Perry in McKinney, Texas on April 26, 1958. Dwayne was educated in the Richardson Independent School District and he graduated in the 1975 class at Richardson High School. He continued his studies at Richland College of the Dallas County Community College District, while employed with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas. Dwayne was baptized as a young man and first learned the power of prayer and faith at the Mitchell Street Church of God in Christ in Dallas, under the leadership of the late Superintendent Edward L. Battles. As an adult, he joined and became a devoted member of the Lighthouse Church of God in Christ under the leadership of the late Superintendent Edward L. Calloway. He ardently participated in Lighthouse Church’s “street ministry” and shared his faith with homeless and itinerant men and women. On September 10, 2000, Dwayne joined the Potter’s House Church in Dallas under the leadership of Bishop T. D. Jakes, where he was a member of the Deacon’s ministry until the time of his death. Dwayne enjoyed and networked socially with a wonderful community of friends. Dwayne was employed with G.M. Transportation Inc. in Irving, Texas. On Saturday, May 14, 2011, Dwayne’s spirit peacefully transitioned from his earthly habitation to await the great transformation. Dwayne is survived by his parents, Roy and Lena Perry of Dallas, one sister, Shelia Kathleen Cunningham of Allen, two brothers Larry Glenn (Tina) of Mansfield, TX and Mario Lynn (Lisa) of McKinney; three great sons, Jamar Dwayne Perry of San Diego, CA, Jeremy Rashad Perry and Joshua Lynn Perry; one grandson Jeremy Rashad, Jr., and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, special, and life-long friends.
