Dudley Harlow

Mr. Dudley Harlow, age 91, loving husband, father, and grandfather, of Garland, Texas passed away August 5, 2009. A native of Collin County, he was born on June 10, 1918, to Jesse and Clara (Van Hoozer) Harlow. Dudley was a retired Senior Vice President of Garland Saving and Loan. He is a graduate of the Institute of Financial Education of Chicago, Illinois and a Certified Chief Appraiser of Real Estate. Dudley served his country valiantly in World War II with the 487th Bomb Group in Europe. He received many medals including the Bronze Star. He developed lifelong friendships with his Air Force companions which were enthusiastically maintained at annual reunions. Dudley was past President of the Garland Host Lions Club and a lifetime member of the Garland Chamber of Commerce. He was a past Director of Garland Home Builders. He was a member of the First Baptist Church where he served as an usher. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Dorothy Drain Harlow; son and daughter-in-law, Dr. James and Diane Harlow of Garland; granddaughter, Alexa Harlow Griffith and her husband, John Griffith, as well as three great grandsons, Ian, Jack and Micah Griffith, and a great granddaughter, Jessica Griffith, all of Indianapolis, Indiana; brothers, Bill Harlow of McKinney, Texas, Haley Harlow of Melissa, Texas; Leonard Harlow of Anna, Texas, and A.L. Harlow of Kansas City, Kansas; sisters, Francis Harlow of McKinney and Jackie Harlow Burch of Bonham, Texas; and several loving nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 8, 2009, at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, with Rev. Jack Schmid officiating. The family will receive friends for a visitation from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home.
