Duane Harry Wallace

Duane Harry Wallace, 87 passed away on April 28, 2016 at the Sunrise of Plano.  He was the son of Lloyd and Carrie (Hoopes) Wallace and was born March 28, 1929 in Lincoln, Kansas.  Duane was an only child.

After his high school graduation, he attended Kansas State University where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Architecture in 1951.  Duane graduated with honors and was a member of Tau Sigma Delta and Phi Kappa Phi.  He also met his future wife, Marilyn Goss from McPherson, Kansas.  They were married on March 2, 1952 at the First Christian Church in McPherson.

As a result of being in ROTC in college, Duane spent two years in the United States Army during the Korean War.  After their marriage, Duane and Marilyn lived in El Paso, Texas and Fairbanks, Alaska.  When his army service ended, they returned to Salina, Kansas for eight years where Duane worked for Wilson and Co. Engineers and Architects.  Two of their daughters were born there, Linda of Las Vegas, Nevada and Marsha of Roseville, California.  The family moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 1961 and lived there until moving to Plano in 2015.  Their youngest daughter, Laura was born in Phoenix and now lives in Frisco. 

Duane is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Marilyn Wallace of Plano; daughters, Linda, Marsha and Laura; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Max and Sharon Goss of Prairie Village, Kansas; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, May 2, 2016 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow funeral home in Allen, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Monday afternoon, May 2, 2016, at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
