Dr. Timothy Patrick Shannon went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 14, 2012.

Tim was born April 1, 1954 in Great Bend, Kansas to Reece and Betty Shannon. Having grown up in the Dallas area, Tim graduated from Highland Park High School in 1972. He earned his undergraduate degree in Psychology from Baylor University. He attended the University of Texas Dental School at Houston, graduating in 1981, and receiving his license to practice dentistry soon thereafter. He was the sole proprietor of Shannon DentalCare in McKinney, Texas. Tim was nominated by his peers for Dentist of the Year in the state of Texas in 2009.

Tim was active in the local community, professionally and personally. He served as the 2010-11 President of the North Texas Dental Society. He was a member of the Collin College Dental Hygiene School Advisory Committee and was Past Chairman of the Board of the nonprofit Rite to Smile Foundation. On a personal level, Tim was the President of the Stonebridge Ranch Homeowners Association, having served on its Board of Directors for more than 5 years. He was the Chairman of the McKinney Library "Friends of the Library", having previously served on the Library Advisory Board for 5 years. Tim was a long time member of Prestonwood Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and directed and taught a Bible study class. He was passionate for those less fortunate and organized a group of men, Sons of Thunder, to volunteer their services to those in need. He also served as an usher and assisted with children’s security. Hobbies included cooking, gardening, and reading. He was always interested in trying new restaurants and he and Kathleen held season tickets to the Dallas Symphony.

Tim leaves behind wife Mary Kathleen Shannon of 19 years; brother & sister-in-law Michael and Janet Shannon, nephew Karl and niece Jessica of Montclair, Virginia; brother- and sister-in-law Chris and Wendy Piepke of Waxahachie, Texas, nieces and nephews Virginia and Shawn Mathiews of Waxahachie and David and Ashley Aparicio of Waco, Texas; aunt Maidette Weichbrodt of Ardmore, OK; and lots of cousins and extended family.

Visitation will be Friday October 19 from 7:00 to 9:00 at Turrentine Jackson Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas. A celebration of Tim’s life will be held Saturday October 20 at 11:00 a.m. at Prestonwood Baptist North in Prosper. In lieu of flowers, the family requests an honorary memorial to Prestonwood Baptist Church’s Generations North (972-820-5000).
