Dr. Richard Gerard Allison Sr., 76, of Fairview, Texas, passed away on April 14, 2017 in McKinney, Texas. He was born on October 24, 1940 in Winnipeg, Canada to Frederick Gerard Allison and Gerda Elisabeth Fremming Allison.
Richard graduated first in his class from Kelvin High School in 1957 in Winnipeg. In 1965, he earned his medical degree from the University of Manitoba. He did his residency in diagnostic radiology at Montreal General Hospital and he became Board Certified in Radiology and Nuclear Medicine. In 1970, Richard moved to Santa Monica, CA and was on staff at Saint John’s Hospital. He then relocated to Texas in 1976 and practiced radiology in South Texas, Bonham, and the Dallas area.
Richard loved his family and spending time at the lake in Minaki, Canada where family and friends would gather during the summer. He was an avid reader, skier and jogger. His favorite things were traveling, the beach, cinema, his cats and dessert.
He is survived by his wife, Robin Allison of Fairview, TX; daughter, Caroline Allison of Houston, TX; son, Richard Gerard Allison Jr. of San Diego, CA; 4 grandchildren, Hunter Allison, Ella Allison, Erik Allison, all of Dana Point, CA and Kensington White of Houston, TX and 2 sisters, Rosemary Norrie (Toronto) and Lorraine Ellis (Calgary).
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen, Texas
