Dr. James Clifford Mason, age 60, of Tacoma, Washington, passed away on January 28, 2012.  He was born October 10, 1951, in Buffalo, New York, to Linwood and Marion (Brockenton) Mason.  After completion of high school, James enrolled at State University of New York at Buffalo where he earned his bachelors degree, followed by a masters degree.  It was at Howard University in Washington, D.C. where he completed his medical studies and earned the Doctor of Medicine degree in 1979.  He would go on to complete his residency in Urology at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, Washington where he served as an active duty officer in the United States Army Medical Corps, attaining the rank of Major.   Most of his professional career was spent in private practice in Dallas, but he returned to practice in Tacoma in 2007.  Dr. Mason was a member of Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity and was involved in various civic, cultural and community outreach activities.

He is survived by his daughter, Kennedy Mason and her mother Sharon of Allen, Texas as well as numerous other relatives and friends.

James is preceded in death by his parents, Linwood and Marion Mason; and brother, Ronald Mason.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 14, 2012, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen, Texas.  Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas.
