Dr. Edward Allan Shinedling, age 49, of Lucas, Texas passed away on December 26, 2015. He was born on October 1, 1966 in La Mirada, California to Daniel Allen and Mary Helen (Alvarez) Shinedling.
Dr. Shinedling was a Diplomate of The American Board of Periodontology. He was a graduate of Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas, Texas. Following his graduation in 1996, Dr. Shinedling commenced his three-year residency in Periodontics. His residency included hospital rotations at Children's Medical Center, Scottish Rite Hospital, Veteran's Administration Hospital, and Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas. Dr. Shinedling completed his residency in 1999 with a certificate in Periodontics and a Master’s Degree in Oral Biology. He has lectured on a variety of topics in Canada, Mexico, South Korea, Argentina, Chile, Honduras, and in numerous cities across the United States. He also provided Charitable Dental Care to disadvantaged populations in Central and South America.
Apart from Dentistry, Dr. Shinedling enjoyed professional hockey, football, basketball and baseball. Most of all he enjoyed evenings and weekends at home with his family. He also cycled in his spare time. Dr. Shinedling was active in many local and National Dental Organizations and participated in numerous Church and Civic functions.
He is survived by his children, Ashton Shinedling of College Station, Texas, Joli Shinedling Humes and husband Cody of Norman, Oklahoma, Aubrie Shinedling and Aiden Shinedling both of Plano, Texas; friend and mother of his children, Linda Reed of Plano, Texas; father, Dan Shinedling, Sr. and wife Pam Roberts of Alvord, Texas; brother, Dan Shinedling, Jr. and wife Tami of Flower Mound, Texas; sister, Debbie Hyland and husband Mark of Irving, Texas; numerous aunts and uncles; nephew and niece, Tatum and Rubie.
Dr. Shinedling is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Helen Alvarez Shinedling.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1324 W. Exchange Pkwy, Allen, Texas. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation being held from 5:00 pm. until 8:00 p.m., Monday evening at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.
