Dr. Byron Glenn Douglas

Dr. Byron Glenn Douglas, age 87, of McKinney, Texas, passed away April 1, 2008, in McKinney. Dr. Douglas was born on February 28, 1921 in Frisco, Texas to John Brewer and Martha (Akin) Douglas. He grew up in Collin county. Dr. Douglas married Jayne McAdams on July 9, 1940 in Oklahoma. He received a Bachelor’s degree from North Texas State University and attended Baylor College of Dentistry. Dr. Douglas practiced dentistry in Dallas for many years and was one of the first dentists to specialize in children’s dentistry. He proudly served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. Dr. Douglas was a member of First Baptist Church in McKinney. He is survived by daughters, Mary Jane Douglas of McKinney, Texas and Rebecca Bailey and her husband, Gil Bailey of Plano, Texas; son, Byron Douglas and wife Linda Douglas of McKinney, Texas; grandchildren, Melody Douglas, Deborah Freeman, Shannon Bagby, Michele Sapp, Anna Terry, and John David Douglas; great grandchildren, Savannah Bagby, Preston Welborn, Andrew Terry, Asher Douglas, Noah Terry, and Ella Jayne Catherine Douglas. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Martha Douglas, wife, Jayne M. Douglas and grandson, Andrew McAdams Douglas. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, April 5, 2008 at First Baptist Church in McKinney, Texas with Dr. Jeff Warren officiating. A memorial visitation will be held at 6:00 PM, Friday, April 4, 2008 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas. Special thanks to Senior Select Home Health and Vitas Hospice for their kind and compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels, Collin County, 600 N. Tennessee St., McKinney, TX 75069.
