Dr. William Lawrence Smith, Jr., age 89, of Anna, Texas, passed away on October 15, 2011. He was born August 1, 1922, in Stafford, Kansas, to William Lawrence Smith, Sr. and Elsie Fern (Carr) Smith. On June 21, 1943, Bill married Nadine Lorene Block, in Martinez, California. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. He is survived by his wife, Nadine Smith of Anna, Texas; sons, Larry Smith and wife Lynn of Plano, Texas, Richard Smith and wife Eberle of Rockwall, Texas, and Keith Smith of Coupeville, Washington; daughter, Phyllis Wiuff and husband Bruce of McKinney, Texas; sister, Carolyn Ives and husband Bob of St. John, Kansas; grandchildren, Zack Smith, Will Smith and wife Joy, Christopher Smith and wife Alissa, Sheryl Norris, and husband Rick, Austen Kennedy, Travis Smith, Aaron Smith, Eric Wiuff, April Propst and husband Jeff, Robert Wiuff and wife Alissa, Nathan Wiuff and fiancé Ashlee; great-grandchildren, Ava Mae Smith, Ross Stephenson Smith, Caiden Lawrence Smith, Kiyah McKenna Smith, Thomas Eliot Propst, Madeline Denell Askins, and Emma Paige Wiuff. Bill is preceded in death by his parents, William and Elsie Smith; sons, Timothy Lane and Brian Lynn Smith; and daughter, Susan Renee Smith. A private graveside service will be held at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas. A memorial service will take place at 4:00 p.m., on Tuesday, October 18, 2011, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel, in Allen, Texas, officiated by Pastor Michael Moonoo. Family and friends are invited to the funeral home at their convenience on Sunday and Monday to pay their respects and to sign the register book. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Monday evening, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow.
