Mr. Doyle Wade Harris, age 86 of Allen, Texas passed away on Thursday, June 8, 2006 in Dallas, Texas. He was born on November 20, 1919 to Jesse and Bessie (Howard) Harris in Morgan Mill, Texas. He married Nadine Bowers on January 17, 1948 in Dallas, Texas. He was a kind and gentle man and was well loved by everyone that knew him. He loved working with his hands and mind and was immensely talented. He could create useful and beautiful objects and tools from the humblest of materials, and there was nothing that was broken that he couldn’t take apart and put back together, even better than it was originally. He was a gifted storyteller and related wonderful tales of growing up in small Texas towns during the depression, and his experiences in the Navy during WWII. He served honorably onboard the U.S.S. Willoughby and fought bravely during the battle of Leyte in the Philippines. He will greatly missed. He is survived by his wife, Nadine; daughter, Cheryl, son-in-law, Jim Hogston, brother, Darrell Harris; sisters, Arlene and Dorothy; mother-in-law, Florine Bowers; and many nieces and nephews. Entombment will be 1:30 PM, Monday, June 12, 2006 at Ridgeview Memorial Park.
