Douglas "D.W." Webster Overman

Douglas Webster Overman, Jr., age 80, formerly of Big Spring, Texas passed away July 14, 2016 at his McKinney, Texas home.   He was born February 13, 1936, to Douglas Webster Overman, Sr. and Melba Leona (Little) Overman in Runnels County, Texas.  D.W. was a 1955, graduate of Big Spring High School.  On August 24, 1957, he married Margaret Jane Osborne in Big Spring. His career included twenty years with the City of Big Spring and eighteen years with SID Richardson Carbon Company also in Big Spring.  D.W. was passionate in his involvement with the Big Spring Art Club, Howard County Master Gardner’s, Festival of Lights Committee, as well as McKinney Art Club.  He was a member of Highpoint Church of Christ in McKinney.

D.W. is survived by his wife, Jane Overman of McKinney, Texas; son, Brent Overman and wife Rhonda of Cumby, Texas; daughter, Leslye Overman Mitchell and husband David of McKinney, Texas; grandsons, Chance Overman, Chad Overman and wife Jessica, Christopher Overman, Matthew Mitchell, and Thomas Mitchell; brother, Bobby Overman and wife Dana; and sister, Cherry Shults and husband Hollis.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Fred Overman, and sister, Patsy Brown.

A remembrance gathering will be held on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.
 
A memorial service will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 30, 2016 at Myers & Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Big Spring, Texas. Inurnment is to follow at Trinity Memorial Park in Big Spring, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
