Douglas Eugene Prather

Douglas Eugene Prather, of Plano, Texas, passed away on February 8, 2013, at the age of 76. He was born on August 9, 1936, in Martinsburg, West Virginia, to Harold Wise and Lydia Pearl (Williams) Prather. Douglas proudly served his country in the United States Army. He worked at Cape Canaveral Space Center, in communications, for fifteen years. Douglas was a resident of Plano the past forty years. He had over thirty years of experience in the electrical business. He owned and operated Spartan Electrical Services, LLC, with his son, Kevin Prather, over the last seven years. Douglas loved the outdoors, bass fishing, football and barbeques. He was a collector of John Wayne memorabilia. Douglas loved his grandchildren and family.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Carla J. Prather of Plano, Texas; children, Kevin Prather and fiancé Sherry of Rowlett, Texas, Kelly Scamardo and husband Rick of Wylie, Texas, Erin McKellar and husband Cole of McKinney, Texas and Brian Prather of Luther, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Justin and wife Samantha, Amanda, Brayden and Lily; great-grandchildren, Brazos and Zeke; sisters, Eunice Lloyd of West Virginia, Linda Kleiner and husband Fred of Maryland; many loving nieces and nephews.

Douglas is preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Lydia Prather.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m., on Friday, February 15, 2013, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel, in Allen, Texas.
