IN LOVING MEMORY

Douglas Ellis Fast Sr

Dec 20 1941 - May 07 2015

Douglas Ellis Fast, Sr. (Doug), age 73, of McKinney, Texas, passed away on May 7, 2015.  He was born on December 20, 1941 in Dayton, Ohio to Ellis Valentine and Mable (Pellar) Fast.  In his youth, Doug was an accomplished trumpet player and devoted Boy Scout. He attained the rank of Eagle Scout and other distinguished honors in the Scouts. After graduating high school, Doug entered the Navy and served for four years as an aircraft electrical technician. He then attended the University of New Mexico, was president of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity and graduated with an Accounting degree. He also met the love of his life, Mary Marjorie Putney (or “MM” to her friends), and on August 19, 1967 they were married in St. Louis, Missouri.  Throughout their lives together, Doug and MM lived in New Mexico, Colorado, Texas and South Carolina. They enjoyed each stop along the journey and made wonderful memories and lasting friendships that have stood the test of time. Despite the many places they called home, he never waivered in his loyalty to the Denver Broncos. Doug enjoyed traveling and his favorite destination by far was Hawaii. His passion for music was known to those around him as he loved to share his favorite selections ranging from the harmony of Barbershop to the energy of mariachi, from the brassy tone of Al Hurt to the Dixieland Jazz and Blues of New Orleans. He treasured his two children and ten grandchildren.  Doug and MM are members of Custer Road United Methodist Church in Plano, Texas.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Marjorie Fast of McKinney, Texas; son, Douglas Ellis Fast, Jr. and wife Amanda of Boiling Springs, South Carolina; daughter, DeAnna Marie Crowell of Allen, Texas; sister, Marilyn Suzanne Fast of Dayton, Ohio; grandchildren, Grant Samuel McArtor, Douglas Ellis Fast, III, Emily Viola Fast, Christina Liann Fast, Caleb John Fast, Ethan Christopher Fast, Charles Nathaniel Fast, Carson William Crowell, Alexander Hopkins Crowell and Madeline Marjorie Crowell.

Doug is preceded in death by his parents.

A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, May 11, 2015 at Custer Road United Methodist Church, 6601 Custer Road, Plano, Texas.
