IN LOVING MEMORY

Dortha Dee Culp

Jun 27 1933 - Sep 28 2014

Much loved Wife, Mother, Sister, and Friend.  On Sunday, September 28, 2014, Mrs. Dortha Dee Tally Culp entered heaven, leaving behind her daughter, Debbie Anderson and husband Rick; son, Randy and husband John; son, Wayne and wife Angela; and son, Kevin; sisters, Fae Davis, Sherla Cox and Ellen Eldridge; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and many friends who will miss her dearly.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Waymon, her parents and six brothers and sisters. Dortha held many roles in her life in addition to wife and mother; most recently working in the Bursar’s office at Collin College until retiring earlier this year, leaving many sad coworkers behind. Born in Bolivar, Missouri on June 27, 1933, and raised in California, Dortha married Waymon, a Baptist minister from Texas, on August 30, 1952.  From there they embarked on a rich life where they pastored churches in California, Texas, Missouri, and Louisiana; settling back in Texas in 1994. As a pastor’s wife, Dortha usually became the church pianist or organist and was instrumental in developing children’s music programs, touching the lives of hundreds of children, teaching and modeling for them her simple and deep love for Christ. This extraordinary woman taught school, did accounting work, raised four children, and made innumerable friends in many states with her wit and charm. Dortha lived her life full of love and happiness.  We love you and will miss you every day, Mom!
