Dorothy Mae Wroten Williams

Dorothy Mae Wroten Williams - age 89 of Prosper, TX went to be with the Lord and her Savior Tuesday afternoon April 17th, 2012.  She was a member of Allendale First United Methodist Church in St. Petersburg, FL and has been a favorite at First Baptist Church and Prestonwood Baptist Church in Prosper, TX since moving there with her beloved grand daughter Marla Carole Griffitt and her family in 2004.  They were an inseperable pair since the day that Marla came into this world. She was a bright shining light to everyone that she came into contact with; leading always by example of compassion, conviction, & love.  She was married to Thomas Carl Williams for 54 years.  She was born in Natchez, MS June 19, 1922.  She graduated from United Vocational High in Red Lick, MS.  At one point she was the owner or partner in several businesses; Williams Grocery, Lorman, MS; Gregg-Williams Insurance Co. Memphis, TN; and Singer Sewing Machine Co in St. Petersburg, FL.  She volunteered for Ditty Bags for migrant workers of Florida.  She loved beautiful flowers and was a member of the several garden clubs and was known there for her wonderful American red & white roses.  She loved to read and study her bible and was always involved in ministies, clubs, and organizations within the church and the community. She was the president of the local PTA in Red Lick, MS for four years.   She was a passionate leader and teacher in her church.  For many years she was President of the United Methodist Women's organization.  Preceded in death by her parents Louis Everett Wroten & Mary Evelyn Starnes; husband Thomas Carl Williams, Sr.; and son in law Buddy Gene Gregg; daughter in law, Marion Diane Williams.  Left to cherish her memories are her daughter, Dorothy Carole Gregg; son, Thomas Carl Williams Jr.; grand daughter; Marla Carole Griffitt and her husband Brian Griffitt, Sr.; grandson, Gregory Gene Gregg; grand daughter, Carla Diane Holley; grandson, Van Williams; great grandsons Brian Griffitt II and Aaron Griffitt; great grand daughters Savanah Diane Holley & Piper Aubrianna Holley.  The family will hold a funeral service from 2:00 - 3:00 PM Saturday April 21, 2012  followed by a reception from 3:00 - 5:00 PM on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at Turrentine Jackson Morrow Funeral Home in Frisco, TX 8520 Main St. Frisco, TX 75033 (972) 335-2444 with Warren Samuels officiating.  There will be a graveside service and burial at the Royal Palms North Cemetery 2600 Gandy Blvd. St. Petersburg, FL 33702 (727) 577-0579 on Monday, April 30, 2012.  In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Next Worldwide P.O. Box 271130 Flower Mound, TX 75027 for a scholarship fund in her name.
