Dorothy Louise Self, age 90, of McKinney, Texas passed away January 10, 2012. She was born March 26, 1921 in McKinney, Texas to William G. Gaulden and Ada Mae (Davidson) Gaulden. On November 23, 1946 she married Robert L. Self in Rockwall, Texas. Dorothy owned and operated Dorothy’s Alterations shop for many years. She loved her life at Homestead of McKinney and was always appreciative of the care she received there. She is survived by her daughter, Sue Sperry of McKinney, Texas; grandson, Nathan Self of Waxahachie, Texas; granddaughter, Narissa Rahi of Allen, Texas; grandsons, Richard Carrell and Steven Carrell both of Austin, Texas; sisters, Ruth Armstrong of Schertz, Texas, Myrt Lemmon and husband, Jim of Dallas, Texas and Betty Walley of Denison, Texas; four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and other loving family members. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Ada Gaulden; husband, R.L. Self; son, Randy Lynn Self; grandson, Andy Carrell; six brothers and two sisters. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 13, 2012 in the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel, Allen, Texas. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park, Allen, Texas The family will receive friends during a visitation on Thursday evening beginning at 6:00 p.m., at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, Allen, Texas.
