Dorothy Lindsay Plumbley

Dorothy Lindsay Sears Plumbley, 94, of Fort Worth passed away June 5, 2015. She was born at home July 28, 1920 in McKinney, Texas to John Cleveland and Dorothy Reba (Lindsay) Sears. Dorothy was a lifelong member of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) growing up in the First Christian Church of McKinney. She attended Texas Christian University and then went to work for AT&T in Dallas. In January 1949 she married Thomas Ashley Plumbley, Jr. Dorothy and Tom served churches in Texas and Missouri. During this time, Dorothy was very involved in the life of each church and in the Christian Women’s Fellowship, where she served many roles. She was also involved as a Sunday School teacher, PTA volunteer and a Girl Scout volunteer.

Survivors include daughter, Nancy Styles; son, Tom Plumbley and his wife, Patty, all of Fort Worth; grandchildren: Kimberly Styles Vega and husband, Eli of Dallas; Melissa Styles and husband, Stephen Tadlock of Richardson; Adam Plumbley and wife, Courtney; Matthew Plumbley and wife, Curran, all of Fort Worth; and Aaron Styles of Boston, Mass.; and nine great-grandchildren.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Tom, and her sister, Nancy.

A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at First Christian Church, Ft. Worth, Texas.
