Funeral services for Doris Marguerite Swift will be held on Friday March 13, 2009 at 10 a.m. at the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Chapel in Leonard, Texas. Rev. Danny Wood of the West Sherman Baptist Church will officiate. Mrs. Swift was a member of that church for many years. The services will be under the direction of the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Burns Cemetery in Trenton, Texas with Rick and Josh Norman, Bryan and Caleb Norman, Ryan Dockery and Mark Dockery serving as pallbearers. Mrs. Swift passed away on March 9, 2009 at the Houston House in Sherman where she had been a resident for the past two years. Marguerite, known to her family as Margie, was born September 14, 1918 in the Nobility Community to the Late Frank Willis Dockery and Lillie Reagan Dockery. She married her husband, F.M. Swift, Jr. on January 8th, 1938. They were married for 55 years before He passed away in August of 1933. CMSGT F.M. Swift, Jr. was in the United States Air Force for 35 years and with Margie and their family lived and traveled all over the United States and Texas with the Air Force. Upon his retirement in 1971 they moved back to the Sherman-Denison area and built their dream home on Loy Lake Road. Margie loved her home and took great pride in her flower and vegetable gardens each year. They also raised quarter horses and operated horse stables in both Michigan and Texas. Mrs. Swift is survived by her daughters, Lynda Norman of Denison and Tonya Cripps of Sherman, one son, Frankie Milton Swift and his wife, Barbara of Show Low, Arizona, her grandchildren, Rick Norman and his wife, Sue of Denison, Bryan Norman and his wife, Misty of Denison. Three great-grandchildren, Josh Norman, Caleb and Madison Norman of Denison, two brothers, Billy Dockery and wife Laurentia Dockery of Trenton, Tommy Dockery of Garland and one sister, Betty Gonzalez of Trenton, also several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Swift was preceded in death by her husband, F.M. Swift, Jr. and son Bobby Joe Swift. Family Night will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday at the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Leonard.
