IN LOVING MEMORY

Doris Aileen Presley Sowell (Dee)

Jan 01 1920 - Dec 20 2010

Doris Aileen Presley Sowell (Dee) passed away December 20, 2010 with family around her. Dee was born in Sonora, Texas on January 1, 1920 to Claude & Alice Presley. She was raised in San Antonio, graduated from Breckenridge High School and attended Baylor University. She married Joseph Curtis Sowell on Easter Sunday, April 13, 1941 and they celebrated 51 years together. They moved to Dallas and had four children, Chris, Chuck, Vicki and Kathi, 11 grandchildren and 7 great-grandsons! Dee was a wonderful homemaker and mother and excelled in cooking and sewing. Dee loved their home at Lake Texoma and spent a lot of time with the family and friends there. She was the core of the family who never really wanted a leadership role, but led us in her own quiet way setting the examples with humor and with love. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, husband and both sons. A strong Christian, she supported many churches but was a member of Highland Park United Methodist. She instilled in her family the joy that comes from giving and loving her Lord, always demonstrating that you teach generosity by example. Dee is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Vicki and Doug Smith and Kathi and Bob Baublits, and daughters-in-law, Jeanne and Pam Sowell. A memorial service will be held in the sanctuary at Highland Park United Methodist Church at 1 pm on Monday, January 3, 2011. In lieu of flowers, please give to Night OWLS at HPUMC or the Alzheimer’s Association.
