Doris Simpson, of McKinney, Texas, passed away on May 31, 2013 at the age of 86. She was born on September 5, 1926, in McKinney, Texas, to William Lee and Pearl (Commons) Brock.
She is survived by her son, Waylan Simpson of McKinney; sister, Sharon Warren of Allen, Texas; brother, Brandon Biggerstaff of Austin, Texas; sister-in-law, Oretha Brock of Lone Oak, Texas; good friends, Dalton And Dottie Gillaspie, Avalee Caldwell, Frances Airhart and Victor Luna;
Doris is preceded in death by her parents, William Lee and Pearl Brock; brothers, Billy and Kenneth Brock.
Doris was a retired occupational therapist, who spent many years working at the Veterans Administration Hospital in McKinney, Texas and later in north Little Rock, Arkansas. She retired from the Veterans Administration in 1981, and continued to work in her profession until she retired in 1998. The family would like to thank the administrators and staff of Villa Asuncion, in Princeton, for their professional, devoted care for the last year and a half of her life. Their cheerful attitude and service made it a happy and safe environment for Doris, and made her feel very comforted.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon, on Monday June 3, 2013, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel, in Allen, Texas. Interment will follow at Melissa Cemetery in Melissa, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation, being held Sunday evening, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., at the funeral home.
