Doris “Dorsey” McNeill of McKinney, Texas passed away April 20, 2015 at the age of 76. She was born July 10, 1938 to Earl “Jelly” Stirling and Nona Merle (Nixon) Patterson in McKinney, Texas. Dorsey grew up in McKinney and was a 1956 graduate of McKinney High School. She later attended Weatherford College. Dorsey married Cary Wayne McNeill on August 30, 1957 in Oceanside, California. Her hobbies included sewing, crafts, and baking (especially pies). She was a life long member of North Baptist Church in McKinney where she sang in her beautiful alto voice (to the delight of her father) not only in the choir, but also in solos and duets with her sister Barbara.
Dorsey is survived by her husband, Wayne McNeill of McKinney, Texas; children, Bart McNeill and wife Lya of Plano, Texas, Robin McNeill Youngblood and husband Herb of Lubbock, Texas, and Brent McNeill and wife Ana of Driftwood, Texas; mother, Nona Patterson of McKinney, Texas; grandchildren, Taylor McNeill, Sam McNeill, Meredith McNeill, Bridget Gray and husband Daniel, Scott Youngblood, John McNeill and Jake McNeill; sister, Barbara Hamm and husband Don of Duncanville, Texas; and a host of loving family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Jelly Patterson.
A funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 24, 2015 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel in Allen, Texas. Interment is to follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
