Doris Fowler, age 80, of McKinney, Texas, passed away January 15, 2011, in McKinney. Doris was born January 6, 1931, in Collin County, Texas, to W. L. and Alta (Paysinger) Appelbee. She married E. A. Fowler, Jr. on June 18, 1949, in McKinney, Texas. Doris retired as a secretary with the McKinney ISD and served as an officer for several years with the Retired Teacher’s Association. She was a member of Community North Baptist Church, formerly North Baptist Church in McKinney. Doris served in numerous capacities at her church. She is survived by her sons, Randy Fowler and wife, Karen of Lorton, Virginia and Brent Fowler and wife Kathy of McKinney, Texas; grandchildren, Kelly Fowler, Kristy Fowler, Allie Fowler, and Mac Crawford. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brothers, Leon Appelbee, Neville Appelbee, and George Appelbee. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon, Monday, January 17, 2011, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen, Texas. Interment will follow at Pecan Grove Cemetery in McKinney. The family will receive friends during a visitation beginning at 6:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
