IN LOVING MEMORY

Dora Maye Todd

Jul 19 1922 - Nov 25 2012

Dora Maye Todd, 90, went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior on the 25th of November 2012 with her family by her side. Dora Maye was a radiant Christian, prayer warrior, and a loving example to her family, church, and friends.

Dora Maye graduated from Grand Saline High School and then received a BA degree from Baylor University and married her husband James. She supported him wholeheartedly in his work for the Lord as a pastor in churches all over Texas. After James retired from pastoring, the family moved to McAllen, Texas where together they farmed citrus and ministered to winter Texans, as well as local churches. The couple then moved to McKinney, Texas to be near family. After James’s death, Dora Maye remained active at First Baptist Church McKinney, and it has been told that she was witnessing about the saving grace of Jesus to those around her up through her last days.

She was born on July 19, 1922 in Grand Saline, Texas to John and Maye Luce. She is survived by her son, James Luce Todd and his wife Martha; her daughter, Maye Beth Parker and her husband Don; and her daughter Judy Maude Bryant and her husband Glen; and her grandchildren, James Todd and his wife Lacey, Daniel Todd, January (Parker) Rowe and her husband Pasco, Austin Parker, Laurie Bryant, Hollie (Bryant) Koppen and her husband Aaron, Craig Bryant, and her great-grandchildren Pasco Parker Rowe and Saxon Rowe. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Johnnie Allene and brother Billie Luce, her son John Roger Todd, and her loving husband Rev. James O. Todd.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Turrentine Jackson Morrow in Allen, Texas at 2:00pm on Monday, November 26th and then the family will travel to Grand Saline, Texas on Tuesday, November 26th for a private graveside service and interment at Woodside Cemetery.

Contributions in memory of Dora Maye may be directed to Mission: Dignity, the Southern Baptist Convention’s organization to assist retired ministers and their spouses. Go to www.missiondignitysbc.org.
