Donis Marie Flores, age 86, of Plano, Texas, passed away April 27, 2011. She was born on January 27, 1925, in Marion, Indiana, to Adolph F. and Lila M. (Lund) Charles. On June 4, 1954 Donis married her husband Gilbert Flores in Seguin, Texas. She grew up in Muncie, Indiana. She graduated from St. John’s Hickey Hospital in Anderson, Indiana, where she received her degree as a registered nurse. After graduation Donis enlisted in the U.S. Army and proudly served her country during the Korean Conflict until she was honorably discharged on August 5, 1955. After her military career she worked as a registered nurse for the State of Texas in San Antonio, Texas. Upon her retirement in 1988, she and her family moved to Plano, Texas. Donis enjoyed knitting, bingo, and casinos. She is survived by her children, Gregory C. Flores of San Antonio, Texas, Gilbert C. Flores and wife Rosie of Plano, Texas, Mary Anne Flores of Plano, Texas, Douglas C. Flores and wife Janice of Plano, Texas, and David C. Flores and wife Kim of Burleson, Texas; eight grandchildren; and brother, Ted Charles of Ft. Myers, Florida. Donis was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Flores; parents, Adolph and Lila Charles; and one brother. Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 2, 2011, at 10:00 a.m., at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, in Plano, Texas. Family and friends are invited to the funeral home at their convenience on Sunday to pay their respects and to sign the register book. The family will receive friends during a visitation Sunday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home.
