Donald J. Webb

Donald J. Webb passed away Saturday, June 29, 2013 in McKinney, Texas where he and his wife, Lois, had lived for a year and a half. They had just celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary. He was born to John T. and Ella Grace Hafer Webb on September 2, 1925 in Spirit Lake, Iowa, a place he loved and returned to all of his life. After serving in the US Army infantry in World War II, he graduated from Iowa State University and worked as an industrial engineer at Maytag in Newton, Iowa and Texas Instruments in Dallas. In later life, his avocation as a cabinetmaker became his vocation, and he built many pieces of fine funiture, cabinetry and two houses. More than any other sport, he loved golf. He played on the golf team at Iowa State, at Brookhaven Country Club and at Holly Lake Ranch where they resided for 22 years.

Mr. Webb is survived by his wife, Lois, of McKinney, his daughters Jody Klickman (Mike) of Plano, Carol Race of Austin, and Linda Cox (Tommy) of Farmers Branch, and a son, Charles Webb (Liz) of Austin, his brother, Jack Webb (Pat) of Des Moines, Iowa, his sister, Mary Challas (Jim) of Gold Canyon, Arizona and his cousin, Dorothy McClintock, of Dallas. Six grandchildren, John Robbins (Jaymeé), Katherine Robbins, David Klickman (Brooke), Ryan Race, Kelli Barker, Hanna Barker and 3 great grandchildren also survive him.

A celebration of his life will be held at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 6400 McKinney Ranch Parkway, McKinney, TX at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 3rd. The family requests that contributions to the Disabled American Veterans or Alzheimer’s Association be made in lieu of flowers.
