Donald Claude Vaughan, age 69 of Frisco, Texas passed away on November 26, 2010 in Dallas, Texas. He was born on September 2, 1941 in Gracemont, Oklahoma to Dyvyd Clarence and Clara Ruth (Propst) Vaughan. Don married Kathleen (Katie) Ann Laitala on November 24, 1983 in S. Lake Tahoe, California. Don enlisted in the Army and was honored to serve in Army Intelligence. After his discharge, he had a varied career as owner of Don’s Steak House, a credit investigator and finally the commercial insurance industry where he held several positions. Prior to retiring, he and Katie owned VCO Insurance Services, an insurance general agency in Novato, California for 19 years. Don’s passions were many. He loved his ‘buddy’ Coot, painting, building, cooking, gardening, traveling, cars, music and his family. He also had a great intellect and was a self-taught computer programmer. Don’s wonderful sense of humor, his kindness and joy of living will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Don is survived by his wife Katie Vaughan of Frisco, Texas; Daughter Donna Renae Vaughan of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; son Donald (Donalso) Claude Vaughan, II and his wife, Barbara of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Britni Dawn Holloway and husband Brandon of Cherokee, Oklahoma, Daniel Carson Vaughan and wife Arianne of Jacksonville, Florida, Cassidi Howe and husband, Thomas of Goldsboro, North Carolina and Trevor Watkins of Muskogee, Oklahoma; great-granddaughter, Kaylin Howe; his brothers, Bill and Donna Vaughan of Sparta, Missouri and John and Carol Vaughan of Shawnee, Oklahoma. Don is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Joann Carver. The Family will receive friends at a Visitation to be held at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Frisco, Texas on Tuesday, November 30, 2010 beginning at 6:00 pm. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, December 1, 2010 at the First United Methodist Church in Frisco with Rev. Doug Miller officiating. Interment will follow at Ridgeview West Memorial Park in Frisco. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Don's memory to the American Cancer Society.
