Donald H. Colston of Frisco, Texas passed away on April 25, 2012. He was the beloved husband of Mary Helen (Rechtin) Colston and devoted father of Daniel Vincent Colston and the late William Thomas Colston. He is survived by his daughter-in-law, Julie Colston and grandchildren, Caitlin, Delaney and Brennan Colston of Kuala Lampur, Malaysia and Noah and Ethan Colston of Arlington, Virginia. He is also survived by his brother, Thomas James Colston of Connecticut.
An engineer by training, Mr. Colston retired as Director of the Veterans Administration Hospital in Bronx, New York after having served with the VA in multiple facilities across the US for 26 years.
Mr. Colston was born on October 2, 1935 in Brooklyn, NY to Thomas Francis and Josephine (Hannigan) Colston. He graduated from St. Augustine High School in Brooklyn and from Manhattan College in Riverdale, NY. He did graduate work in public administration at the University of Minnesota, the University of Colorado and George Washington University. He joined the Veterans Administration in the spring of 1968.
A wake will be held at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Frisco on Thursday, April 26, 2012 from 6-8 PM with a recitation of the rosary at 6:30 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 8000 Eldorado Parkway at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 27, 2012 with Father Vincent Anyama presiding. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Francis of Assisi Church Building Fund or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
Mr. Colston will be inurned in The Chapel of the Risen Christ Columbarium at Mother of God Cemetery in Ft. Wright, KY.
