Donald Wayne Bass, age 72, of Allen, Texas, passed away July 29, 2014, in Dallas, Texas. Donald was born December 24, 1941, in Belton, Texas, to Roy and Adlai (Hardin) Bass. He married Diana on January 1, 1965, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Wayne was a resident of Allen for thirty-one years. He taught in California for eight years, Plano ISD for eighteen years, and South Garland High School for five years. Wayne also owned Bass Family Upholstery in Lucas. He has been a member of and served in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints since February of 1965. He served honorably as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Air force Reserve for six years, discharged in 1969. He was involved with the Boy Scouts of America.
He is survived by his wife, Diana Bass of Allen, Texas: children: Aaron Bass and wife, Harmony, Delene Lewis and husband, Tom, Adam Bass and wife, Leah, Rhonda Elmore and husband, Mark, and Rachelle Bass, all of Allen; grandchildren: Baranie, Angela, Kayla, Crystal, Landen, Jordan, Sariah, Melody, Isabelle, Kacey, Olivia, Trent, Judson, and Kiera; sister, Maude Herd of Wisconsin; and brothers, Roy Bass, Sr. of Arizona and Howard Bass of Spokane, Washington.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, August 1, 2014, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1324 W. Exchange Pkwy., Allen, Texas, 75013. Interment will follow at Fitzhugh Cemetery in Lucas, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation beginning at 1:30 p.m., Friday at the church.
