Don Mills

Don Mills of McKinney, Texas passed away August 12, 2015 at the age of 78.  He was born September 4, 1936 to Harold William Mills and Lois (White) Mills in Bernie, Missouri.  Don married Loretta Joyce Walker on October 17, 1959 in Campbell, Missouri at the Bethany Baptist Church.  

Don was a member of the Air Force after college graduation.  Then, an airline pilot for American Airlines for 30 years.  He was an avid golfer, bridge player, and Texas Rangers fan.  He was also an active member at Rhea's Mill Baptist Church, serving as a deacon and church treasurer for many years.

Don is survived by his wife, Joyce Mills of McKinney, Texas; daughters, Terri Jacobson and husband Eric of Frisco, Texas, Randi Mills of McKinney, Texas, Melanie Chaiken and husband David also of McKinney, Texas; grandchildren, Taler Culpepper and husband John of League City, Texas, Mills and Brody Chaiken of McKinney, Texas, and Colton Jacobson of Frisco, Texas. He is also survived by his great grandchildren, Bradley and Blair Culpepper of League City, Texas; brothers, Graydon Mills and wife Bonnie of Potosi, Missouri, Carrol Dean Mills and wife Ruth Ann of Camdenton, Missouri, Tom Mills and wife Martha of West Plains, Missouri, Michael Mills and wife Charlotte of Bernie, Missouri; sisters, Claudia Vessell and husband Jim of Bernie, Missouri, Marsha Mills of Kansas City, Missouri, Mary Waller of Bernie, Missouri; and a host of other loving family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his son, Marcus Mills and parents, Harold and Lois White.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 15, 2015, at Rhea’s Mill Baptist Church, 5733 North Custer Road, McKinney, Texas 75071 with Rev. Bo Thompson officiating.  An inurnment will be held at Walnut Grove Cemetery at a later date.
