Don King, age 62, of McKinney, Texas, passed away November 27, 2009, in Dallas, Texas. Don was born May 10, 1947, in Roanoke, Virginia to Harold and Ruby (Leonard) King. He married Carol Bridge on August 17, 1974 in Plano, Texas. Don graduated from Virginia Tech with a bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering. He was most recently employed as Vice President and Engineering Director at Polatomic, Inc. He worked for Texas Instruments/Raytheon from 1969 – 2001. Don was very active at First Christian Church in McKinney, serving as a member of the choir, deacon, elder, chairman of the board and an active participant in the annual First Christian Church Youth Mission trip to Los Fresnos, Texas. Don was an assistant scout master with the Boy Scouts of America and a member of the New Hope Planning and Zoning Commission. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Carol King of McKinney, Texas; son, David King and wife, Diem, also of McKinney; daughter, Ellen King of Dallas, Texas; grandson, Matthew Don King of McKinney, Texas; and sisters, Mary Hurt and Joyce Hodges, both of Boones Mill, Virginia. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 1, 2009, at First Christian Church in McKinney, Texas with Dr. Neill Grimes officiating. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation beginning at 7:00 p.m., Monday evening at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.
