IN LOVING MEMORY

Diane Reed

Jan 08 1941 - Jul 19 2004

Barbara "Diane" Reed of Plano, Texas went to be with our Lord and Saviour on Monday, July 19th after a lengthy illness. Diane was born on January 8, 1941 to Joseph and Margaret Pickle in Nashville, Tennessee. She was one of twelve children. She was married to former husband, Waymon B. Reed on December 17, 1960, who was in the U.S. Army. After their travels with the military, and the births of their three children, Barry, Kim and Tonya, they settled in Gunter, Texas. Diane was a very committed mother and homemaker and loved her family with all of her heart. Prior to becoming a grandmother, Diane's love for children was nurtured when she began caring for children in her home. Today, many of those she cared for have children of their own, and still remember the love and care she provided with a tender heart. After the birth of her first grandchild, Matthew Thompson, Diane's life took on a whole new meaning. Soon to follow were the births of granddaughters, Jordan Grimminger and Taylor Grimminger, and her grandsons Zachary Grimminger, Tyler Reed and Jake Reed. Nothing pleased Diane more than to share in the lives of her children and grandchildren. She leaves behind fond memories, endless love for her grandchildren and many family members and friends whose lives she touched. She will be remembered for her bravery and strength as she battled various health problems and her boundless love for her family. Diane is survived by her former husband, Waymon B. Reed of Pottsboro, Texas; son, Barry Reed and his wife Shannon and grandsons, Tyler and Jake; daughter, Kim Thompson and grandson, Matthew ; daughter, Tonya Grimminger and her husband Kurt and granddaughters, Jordan and Taylor and grandson Zachary, all of Plano, Texas. Diane is also survived by one sister, Beverly Henry and five brothers, Wayne Pickle, Kenny Pickle, Gary Pickle, Mike Pickle and Bobby Pickle, all of Nashville, Tennessee. Preceded in death are sisters, Shirley Riat, Pam Daniels, Vicky Pickle and brothers, Larry Pickle and Steve Pickle, son-in-law, John Thompson, and grandson Shane Garner. Family visitation will be held from 6:00 - 9:00 PM on Thursday, July 22, and the burial services will be held on Friday, July 23 at 10:00 AM at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas. Dr. Gene Getz and Reverend Floyd Elliott will be officiating. She will be laid to rest at Gunter Cemetery in Gunter, Texas. Pallbearers will be nephews David Reed, John Reed, Mark Reed, Mitch Gaskin, Ron Ousley and family friend Dean Arrington. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the many doctors and nurses at Medical City of Dallas and the family members and friends who kept Diane and her family in their prayers.
