Dennis Wayne Carr

  Dennis Wayne Carr, 72, of Proctor, Texas slipped peacefully from his earthly home to his heavenly home, Wednesday, February 4, 2015, in Dallas, Texas at the Baylor Medical Center Roberts Hospital.

     He was born on December 4, 1942, in the Climax Community, Texas.

     Dennis was cremated and there will be a memorial service at the Hurst Fielder-Baker Funeral Home, 107 Washington Street, Farmerville, Texas, February 21, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. Bro. Bill Blackstone will officiate.

     In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to the Lustgarten Foundation, 1111 Stewart Avenue, Bethpage, NY 11714, Lustgarten.org, the American Cancer Society, the Gustine Church of Christ, P.O. Box 160, Gustine, Texas 76455 or the charity of your choice.

     Dennis never met a stranger and had friends everywhere he went. He trained cutting horses in the 60’s and 70’s and won the World Championship Appaloosa Performance Show in November 1967. He also placed third in the Texas Paint Horse Club Maturity cutting on Chief Tecumpseh in 1967, and numerous other shows.

     Dennis was an outstanding husband and friend, dad, and grandparent. In his later years he worked for the Texas DHIA from which he retired. Then he went back to work for The Dairy Farmers Association out of Sulphur Springs, Texas. He had a Mobile Dairy Classroom, and took it to schools, fairs, and anything pertaining to kids. This was very important to Dennis to inform the younger generation where milk came from. He worked until 2014 when he retired due to health reasons.

     Dennis is survived by his wife, Schrenia Clark Carr, of the home; son Devin and wife Kristy of Celina, Texas; daughter Delene Williams and husband David of Denton, Texas; two granddaughters Ashtyn and Corleigh Carr of Celina, Texas; two stepsons, Colby Flatt and wife Tiffany, Liberty, Kansas; Cory Spurlock and wife Stephanie of Amarillo, Texas; and three step-grandsons Dalton and Evan Flatt, Liberty, Kansas and Aidan Spurlock of Clyde, Texas; and numerous cousins and aunts.

     Dennis will be sorely missed by all that loved and knew him.

     He was preceded in death by his parents Lewis B. and Argel Recer Carr, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
