Mr. David Owen Wood, age 47, of Plano passed away December 29, 2006 at his home. He was born March 13, 1959, in Middleburg, Virginia to James R. and Blanche (Coates) Wood. Mr. Wood proudly served in the United States Navy and was a veteran of the Gulf War. He retired from the Navy after 20 years of service. He worked for Verizon Wireless as a communications specialist. He is survived by his wife, Joyce of Plano, Texas; mother, Blanche Wood of Plano, Texas; grandmother, Gertrude Coates of Silver Springs, Maryland; sons, David Wood, Jr. and Derek Wood both of Atlanta, Georgia; daughter, Coreisha Chesnutt and husband, Rick of Newark, Delaware; step-children, Amber and Trey Hines of Plano, Texas; brothers and sisters, Michael Wood and wife, Wendy of New Orleans, Louisiana; Patricia Wood of Atlanta Georgia, Victoria Wood of Plano, Texas; Susan Francis of Washington, D.C., Nancy Wright of Blythe, California, Stephan Wood of Los Angeles, California and Phillip Wood of Washington, D.C.; and a host of other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, James R. Wood, Sr. and brother, James R. Wood, Jr. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Friday, January 5, 2007, in the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel with Father Tony Densmore, officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
