David Earl Walston

David Earl Walston, age 73, of McKinney, Texas, passed away April 6, 2015. David was born September 17, 1941, in Corpus Christi, Texas, to Joseph Columbus and Lena Belle (Schaefer) Walston. He grew up in San Antonio where he graduated from Harlandale High School in 1959. Football was David’s passion. He played football in the Harlandale Independent School District in San Antonio, Texas from the 7th through 12th grades. He then had scholarship offers to Victoria College, the University of Florida, and the University of Arkansas. He earned a bachelor degree from the University of Arkansas where he was a middle linebacker on the football team. David was on the team that played in the 1962 Sugar Bowl. Professionally, he played for the Denver Broncos, Orlando Panthers and the San Antonio Toros. David worked in the sales, wireless, and oil and gas industries and was a real estate broker in Texas, California and Arkansas. He was a member of the University of Arkansas Alumni Club, as well as a member of the American Association of Professional Landmen and International Right of Way Association. He loved to travel, loved animals, and loved music, especially the Blues and the ‘50’s. David especially loved spending time with his family, keeping up with old friends and attending University of Arkansas football games.

He is survived by his best friend and former wife, Linda Grace Walston; daughters, Stephanie Leigh Walston, Danielle Dawn Garcia, and Gina Gaye Rudolph and husband, Billy; grandchildren, Jacob David Walston Garcia, Raelynn Catherine Grace Garcia, Garrett James Garcia, Kenneth William Rudolph, Grace Belle Rudolph, and Andrew Walston Rudolph, niece, Terry Lynn Norman and husband, Don; and a host of other loving family member and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Betty Jo Meyer and Judith Catherine Walston.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 18, 2015, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen, Texas.
