David Lee Stevenson age 72, of Fairview, Texas passed away on April 3, 2009. He was born on March 20, 1937 in Hugo, Oklahoma to Almer Thomas and Thelma Stevenson. On November 23, 1960 he married JoAnne Smith in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was a loving husband and father, who adored his wife and daughter. He was a Christian man who led by example, quietly helping many behind the scenes, when no one was watching. He led by actions, not mere words. David was a football referee and sports enthusiast. His hobbies included Woodworking, Carpentry and anything Valerie or JoAnne were involved in. He was everyone’s Santa Claus and played Santa Claus at local nursing homes and for children of all ages. The more he liked you, the more he teased you. He had a love for animals that he shared with Valerie and JoAnne. He is survived by his wife, JoAnne Stevenson of Fairview, Texas; daughter, Valerie Mortimer and husband Mark of Dallas, Texas; sister, Almer Jean Baca of Calera, Oklahoma; numerous nephews, nieces and many other loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Almer Thomas and Thelma Stevenson; brother, Billy Don Stevenson; sister, Janet Snowder; niece, Alicia Smith. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 7, 2009 in the Chapel at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, with Rev. Steve Wild officiating. Interment will follow at Fitzhugh Cemetery in Forest Grove Community. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m., on Tuesday prior to the service at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home.
