David Griffiths Small, Jr., age 92, of Allen, Texas passed away October 20, 2011. He was born November 15, 1918 in Sandborn, Indiana to David Griffiths Small, Sr. and Anna (Adamson) Small. David grew up in Fowler, Indiana where he graduated from high school. In 1940 he graduated from Indiana University in Bloomington. He proudly served in the United States Coast Guard and was a veteran of WWII and the Korean Conflict. David spent his career in Insurance Sales. He was passionate about traveling and golfing. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Ann Small of McKinney, Texas; daughters, Ann Worland and husband, Steve of Freedom, Indiana, Sue Hawthorne of Allen, Texas; granddaughter, Stephanie A. Worland of Bloomington, Indiana; grandson Matthew David Worland and wife, Brooke and their two children, Elizabeth and Benjamin of Franklin, Indiana; granddaughters, Sarah Ann Hawthorne of Allen, Texas and Mary Elizabeth Hawthorne of Allen, Texas; sister, Margaret Atkins of Port Charlotte, Florida; brother, Rev. Thomas G. Small and wife, Shirley of North Port, Florida; nephew, Joe John Laughlin of Indianapolis, Indiana; sister-in-law, Niola Small of Shelbyville, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Dean; sisters, Virginia and Rose. A memorial service celebrating the life of David will be held at a later date in Indiana.
