David Leonard Pummill of Fairview, Texas, passed away on October 5, 2015 at the age of 74. He was born on August 11, 1941 to Ralph and Henrietta (Lawrence) Pummill in Dallas, Texas. David married Jo Jean McCook on March 9, 1963 in Lubbock Texas.He proudly served his country in the United States Army as a pilot and commander during the Vietnam War and assisted in the mobilization and demobilization of troops during the Persian Gulf War. David retired as a Colonel after 30 years of active and reserve service. He graduated from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor’s degree in history. David obtained his Master’s degree in Aerospace Management from the University of Southern California. He loved his family, his church and playing golf. Over the years he volunteered with the Lion’s Club and the Church of Christ prison ministry.
David is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Jo Pummill of Fairview, Texas; daughter Nancy Crabb and husband Rupert of Fort Worth, Texas; sons, Charles Pummill of Austin, Texas and Robert Pummill and wife Melissa of Fort Worth, Texas; grandchildren, Maggie Crabb and Emma Crabb of Fort Worth, Texas; brothers, Dr. Charles Pummill and wife Rhonda of Bedford, Texas and Douglas Pummill and wife Janet of Fort Worth, Texas; sister, Beth Williams and husband Al of Fairview, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Henrietta Pummill and his brother-in-law and golf partner, Scott Whorton.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, October 8, 2015 at Prestoncrest Church of Christ, 6022 Prestoncrest Lane in Dallas, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Wednesday, Octobr 7, 2015 from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway North in Allen, Texas.
