IN LOVING MEMORY

David "Bud" Melton

Feb 22 1934 - Nov 18 2014

David “Bud” Melton died surrounded by his family on Tuesday, November 18th in Birmingham, Ala. He was born on February 22, 1934 and lived most of his life in McKinney, Texas but spent the last few months living in Birmingham to be closer to his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

David was a graduate of TCU, worked in the insurance business his entire adult life and thrived on encouraging young men and women to explore this profession. His son Ernest, son-in-law Skip and grandson Wil presently enjoy successful careers in the insurance business because of his leadership, guidance and encouragement. David loved history and especially sharing with others the history of McKinney where he was born and raised. As a younger man, he was an active member of the McKinney volunteer Fire Dept., and most recently served in the MCDC Board, taught Sunday School at The First Baptist Church and enjoyed golf, watching Alabama football, the Dallas Cowboys, hunting at the farm, and spending every opportunity with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ramona; son, Ernest Melton (Sandra); daughter, Tanya Cooper (Skip); 7 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren.

He will be sorely missed as his humor, storytelling and genuine interest and love for others is what made him special to all who knew and loved him.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, November 24th, at 1:00 p.m., at The First Baptist Church of McKinney, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to his Sunday School classes' SOLID ROCK Mission Fund c/o First Baptist Church of McKinney, 1615 West Louisiana St., McKinney, Texas, 75069.
