David L. Barr

David L. Barr of Allen, Texas, passed away November 2, 2016, at the age of 71. He was born on February 15, 1945, to Lorne Barr and Ireta (Graves) Barr in Lima, Ohio. David grew up in Panama, New York and attended Panama Central School.  He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1962. David served his country for four years and was one of the first to board the newly launched USS America Aircraft Carrier. He was honorably discharged in 1966 and served in the Naval Reserves for a number of years thereafter.

David married Rebecca Katherine Lundell on March 8, 1967, in Jamestown, New York. They moved to Panama, New York where they raised their son Tom and daughter Patzianne. They celebrated forty-nine years of marriage.

David worked in the Sheet Metal Industry for over forty years. He was a skilled craftsman who worked as a journeyman and a field foreman. He retired from King's Heating and Cooling in 2006. He was a proud member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union 112 and the American Legion Post 1286.

His hobbies included woodworking, handyman projects, making maple syrup with his good friends, taking care of his cherry red Ford F150 and golfing. He enjoyed gardening with his wife and helping friends with home projects. David loved the time spent with his family and friends. He cherished his grandchildren William and Jack. He spent the last three years of his life in Allen, Texas so he and Becky could be with them.

He is survived by his son, Thomas L. Barr of Decatur, Georgia; daughter, Patzianne Reynolds, and spouse, Mark of Allen, Texas; sister, Loretta Volk and spouse Charles of Clymer, New York; brother, Charles Barr of Orlando, Florida; grandchildren, William David Reynolds and Jack Thomas Reynolds of Allen, Texas.

David was preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca Barr (2016) and his son-in-law, Stephen Czarnecki (2016).

A memorial service will be held 1:15 p.m., Monday November 14, 2016 at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway Dallas, TX 7521.
