IN LOVING MEMORY

David Allen Colvin

Aug 16 1942 - Aug 23 2017

David Allen Colvin, 75, beloved father, brother, uncle and friend died peacefully on August 23.  His wife of 48 years, Linda Tsukahara Colvin, preceded him in death by only 6 months.  After a long and varied work career, David found his true calling teaching mathematics at Collin College and only retired when health issues interfered.

For the past 20 years David and Linda lived outside of Van Alstyne on the top of a hill, planning and building their dream home.  The family gathered there for many celebrations which included watching the birds and looking at the stars.  Linda's family, her sisters and brothers and their children and David's daughter and grandchildren had especially happy times there.

That this couple could spend 20 years happily building their home side by side is a testament to their love and patience.

His brother, Richard Colvin, will sorely miss his older brother's quiet companionship, and the devotion of Linda's relatives is a testament to David's kind and loving spirit.

There will now be emptiness in the life of his daughter, Lisa Renshaw and her family, who advocated valiantly for David and then, make him comfortable.  David saved every card and letter Lisa ever sent him, and carefully folded and kept each drawing his grandchildren presented him.  She, her husband, and her children were his treasures.

Although many in David's extended family took care of him during his illness, and Linda and he loved their entire family dearly, a special thank you is owed to his niece, Emily Chantry Wolfe, who lovingly cared for her "Mr. Pops" during the past three years with filial-like devotion which was reciprocated.

Rest well, David.

The service will be held at 10:00 AM, Sunday, August 27,2017  at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas. Interment is to follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen,Texas.
