Daniel Webster "Dan" Weidman

Daniel Webster “Dan” Weidman passed away on January 30, 2006. He was 84 years old. Born in Marshall, Texas on August 15, 1921, to Frank Howard and Lora Enna Weidman, the seventh of twelve children they were to be blessed with. Only one, Ruth Maxine, died as an infant. Dan was a graduate of Marshall High School. He was employed by Western Union for more than 42 years. He retired as Administration Manager of the Dallas Area (Texas and Louisiana) in 1979. Prior to transferring to Dallas in 1945, he worked at numerous offices in Texas, New Mexico and Louisiana. He considered himself to be a life-long member of First Presbyterian Church but did not attend church because of a hearing disability he endured from age 24. He was a member of the Peale Center for Christian Living and its Positive Thinkers Club and received monthly lessons from Dr. Norman Vincent Peale or Ruth Stafford Peale. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Frank Howard Weidman, Jr., of Marshall and Chester Earl Weidman of San Antonio; sisters, Virginia Lee Weidman, Lora Mae McCoy, Mildred Louise Nelson and Ruth Maxine Weidman all of Marshall. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Bonnie Alma Dowell Weidman, brothers, Robert Raymond Weidman, Sr., and Virgil Roland Weidman both of Marshall; sisters, Gloria Jean Whetstone of Arlington, Rachel Hope Wall of Marshall, and Betty Lou Lutz of Shillington, Pennsylvania as well as numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 3, 2006, in the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel with Mr. Ray Pasco and Mr. Jay Summers officiating. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park. Mr. Weidman will lie in repose Thursday, February 2, 2006, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home.
