Daniel Eugene Kelly, age 60, of McKinney, Texas, passed away September 22, 2009, in Plano, Texas. Daniel was born January 4th, 1949 at Hamilton Air Force Base in Novato, California to Charles R. and Sheila (Dunnavent) Kelly. Daniel proudly served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He married Belle F. Reed on March 20, 1970 in Austin, Texas. He authored his autobiography, “Seawolves, First Choice”, as well as a second book, “U. S. Navy Seawolves”. Daniel also served as a Texas State Peace Officer. He is survived by his wife, Belle; daughter, Jennifer Borgne of Allen, Texas and son, Derek Kelly of Princeton, Texas. Dan is also survived by granddaughter, Katherine Borgne and grandson, Austin Borgne; Dan’s brothers, John Kelly of Arizona and Sam Dunnavent of California; daughter-in-law, Debbie Lafon Kelly of Princeton, Texas; and son-in-law, Brad Borgne of Allen, Texas. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Raymond Kelly and mother, Sheila Dunnavent. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, September 28, 2009, at Watermark Community Church at 7540 LBJ Freeway, Dallas 75251 Since there will be no graveside service, in lieu of flowers, please consider a gift. Dan and Belle's children have set up an account at Chase Bank under the name of Belle Reed Kelly, should you feel led to bless her in this way. Jennifer Borgne, is also on the account for reference purposes. Any local Chase branch will be able to facilitate and the account is flagged “In Memorial of Dan Kelly”.
